Cardiologists from the country got acquainted with the new potential of electrophysiology and some interesting clinical cases from the practice of Acibadem City Clinic Cardiovascular Center

Prof. Lazar Angelkov, a leading European electrophysiologist, presented to the cardiologists from Burgas and Varna some unique cases of saving patients with severe cardiac arrhythmias. He is highly qualified in the field of electrophysiology and cardiac stimulation. A few days ago, Prof. Angelkov's team won the Medical Oscar Award in the Team of the Year category.

In Burgas and Varna, Prof. Angelkov demonstrated the work of the department and commented on a couple of achievements: saving a pregnant woman in the 8th month of pregnancy, and a complicated case with a 35-year-old taxi driver, where physicians had to find a solution so that the man could continue practicing his profession.

Physicians participated actively in the discussion, and their interest was most clearly expressed towards one of the new procedures in the treatment of rhythm and conduction disorders: cryoablation. It is about 10 times more effective in patients with the same electrophysiological pathology as compared to conventional medication therapy. In rhythm and conduction disorders, Prof. Angelkov uses implantable pacemakers, a cardiac version of defibrillators, and re-synchronization therapy in rhythm and conduction disorders.
