Acibadem City Clinic receives the most prestigious international healthcare accreditation by the Joint Commission International
Acibadem City Clinic is the first Bulgarian hospital that meets the highest international standards and is recognized for its patient care, medical quality and patient safety
On March 29, 2014 Acibadem City Clinic Cardiology Center MBAL was granted accreditation for the highest standards in healthcare quality and patient safety by Joint Commission International (“JCI”), and thus became the first hospital in Bulgaria and Southeast Europe receiving this very prestigious accreditation.
“We are extremely proud of the fact that we were able to meet the high standards, considered as "gold standard" for quality and safety in healthcare and to be accredited by the leading organization in this area.” says Ilian Grigorov, managing director and co-owner of Acibadem City Clinic. “The entire team of the hospital was dedicated to the process of preparing and meeting the standards because our hospital is to provide the best care for the patients and JCI accreditation is an important step toward this direction.”
“The accreditation became possible only through the collaboration among all organization’s staff members.” adds Andrey Markov, managing director and co-owner of Acibadem City Clinic. “Providing high quality care is a team effort and one that gives employees a feeling of prestige to work in an accredited organization”.
„Health care organizations around the world want to create environments that focus on quality, safety and continuous improvement”, says Paula Wilson, president and chief executive officer, JCI. “Accreditation meets this demand by stimulating continuous, systematic improvements in an organization’s performance and the outcomes of patient care. The community should be proud that Acibadem City Clinic has made a commitment to quality and safety”
To meet the requirements of the JCI, Acibadem City Clinic had to comply with a set of criteria divided into 14 chapters. The standards are separated into two main areas – patient centered and hospital infrastructure oriented. A committee of representatives of JCI surveyed the hospital activities for one week, following 1300 measurable criteria (indicators) in all 14 chapters. Acibadem City Clinic received the status "accredited hospital" after a detailed report of the committee and positive assessment on all measurable criteria relevant standards derived from JCI headquarters based in Chicago, USA.
